The Boss Returns to Jersey - Giants Stadium 7.27.8

Lauren is one happy tailgater

We have been excited for this show since the four of us bought tickets way back in January.  The only bad thing is Giants Stadium continued to release floor seats in the weeks prior, while we remained stuck three rows from the top in seats we bought almost eight months in advance.  The excitement started building at that other Jersey guy's concert Perry and I went to a few weeks back and was palpable in the week leading up to the show.

Once Perry rolled out of bed on Sunday, we headed to the store for ice and last minute supplies, (although I almost took his fingers off in what could've been a window catastrophe), then it was back to the apartment to pack the coolers, grab the stereo and head to Giants Stadium for an afternoon of tailgating.  The two of us got there slightly ahead of Jody and Lauren to setup and we were able to settle into our seats for fifteen minutes before the sandstorms began.  The downpour that Jody kept warning us about as she drove North rolled in soon after; while we wrapped ourselves in blankets and towels in a crazy attempt to stay outside, we were eventually forced into the car.  Jody and Lauren arrived and we randomly ran into my favorite tuxedo-wearing co-worker, who joined us later.  Kevin and Jackie showed up later in the evening, toting their own tailgating supplies.

We started making our way into the stadium around 8 and the four of us were quite excited for the show--there was a lot of excited jumping and grabbing from this girl and maybe even a fist pump or two.

I was quite happy with the setlist--from the opening "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out" to the encore ending "Rosalita" (swaying optional).  I had said earlier that I'd be happy for some "Atlantic City," which Bruce provided early in the evening.  Other favorites included "No Surrender," "Born to Run," "Brilliant Disguise," "Lonesome Day," "Dancing in the Dark," (see earlier post) and "The Rising."  We're pretty sure he played for 3 hours, as we got back to our cars around 12:15.

While Jody brought my camera into the show, we were way too far back for anything but video screen shots, so the only photos we have are from our tailgating adventure.  And Jody is not allowed to touch my cameras, so I remain behind the camera yet again.

Look everybody, it's Brett of 10 Cent Freezepops!
Another classic Perry/Jody photo and a priceless or $3.49 umbrella, depending on who you ask.
